This is the project that downtown Phoenix has been waiting for, been planning for, been holding its collective breath for. Confident that downtown Phoenix has a vibrant future, private investors have finally stepped up to the plate with a plan of stunning enormity.
Three blocks at 2nd Street, Jefferson, Washington, and 1st Avenue
- Downtown Phoenix Financial District
- 3 lineal blocks (2 blocks under construction, 1 block on hold)
- At $900 million this is the largest private investment project in the history of Downtown Phoenix
- The western and center portion of CityScape is under construction. The western section will include three structures. On the north side, facing Washington, will be a restaurant/retail building. There will be open space with the capacity to entertain 10,000 public guests when Central is closed for events. A pedestrian skywalk fourteen feet above Central will link the western and center sections.
The center portion of CityScape will consist of two large towers. The northern tower, One East Washington Office Tower, will provide nearly 600,000 sf of gross office space resting atop roughly 100,000 sf of retail space. The southern tower will host the Palomar Hotel, a Kimpton boutique hotel with approximately 250 beds. This tower will also have 100-150 condo units.
CityScape tenants include Urban Outfitters retail clothing, Gold's Gym, a Fox Restaurant Concept boutique steakhouse, AJ Fine Foods, and a proposed drugstore.
The eastern block of CityScape is owned by Barron Collier Companies and plans have been put on hold.
- Status: Has broken ground. First phase is scheduled to open in 2009 with most construction completed by 2011.
